What I believe in
Jehovah's Witnesses
One of the fastest growing religions:
Note to the reader: If you are an honest hearted sincere individual who truly wants to know the truth about us and learn about our (mankind's creator) Jehovah God and his only begotten son Jesus Christ, please do and please feel free to read this information and contact either myself or some witnesses at the local Kingdom Hall in your area. There is also a link to the Official Web site of Jehovah's Witnesses from this page.
We are the worldwide united Christian society of people who actively bear witness regarding Jehovah God and his purposes affecting mankind. They (we) base our beliefs solely on the bible.
Even though religious freedom is lessening in some countries and we, as well us some other religions are being targeted for shutdown, there is no need at all whatsoever to be afraid of or be prejudiced against what is not understood. You may find allot of false information about our beliefs and what we are taught (from the bible). Always remember to go to the "source" when getting information about any religion. All of us have the power and the means to learn about our creator and to serve him faithfully no matter what the circumstances.
Not a sect or a cult
A sect is a group that has broken away from an established religion. A cult is a religion that is said the be unorthodox or that emphasizes devotion according to a prescribed ritual. Many cults follow a living human leader, and often there adherents live in groups apart from the rest of society.
We as Jehovah's Witnesses strictly adhere to the bible. Our worship is our way of life, not a ritual devotion. We neither follow a human nor isolate ourselves from the rest of society. We live and work in the midst of other people. We are not a sect or a cult.
According to the bible the line of witnesses of Jehovah reaches far back the faithful Abel. Hebrews 11:4-12:1 says, "by faith Abel offered God a sacrifice of greater worth than Cain....By faith Noah, after being given warning of things not yet beheld, showed by Godly fear...By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed in going out into a place he was destined to receive as an in heritance...By faith Moses, when grown up, refused to be called the son of the daughter of Pharaoh,, choosing to be ill treated rather than to have the temporary enjoyment of sin...So then, because we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also put off every weight and the sin that easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."
With reference to Jesus Christ, the bible states: These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of creation of God." Of whom as he a witness? He himself made his Father's name manifest. He was the foremost witness of Jehovah.
-Revelation 3:14; John 17:6
The modern-day history of Jehovah's Witnesses began with the forming of a group for Bible study in Allegheny Pennsylvania, USA, in the early 1870's. At first we were known as only Bible Students, but in 1931 we adopted the Scriptural name Jehovah's Witnesses. (Isaiah 43:10-12) Our beliefs and practices are not new but the restoration of first century Christianity.
Some of our outstanding beliefs
1. I believe that the bible in it's entirety is the inspired word of God, we do not adhere to a creed based on human tradition and we hold to the bible as the standard for all our beliefs.
2. I worship Jehovah as the only true God and speak to others about him and his loving purposes toward all mankind. Anyone who publicly witnesses about him is usually identified as belonging to the group, Jehovah's Witnesses.
3. I believe, not that Jesus is part of the Trinity, but that, as the bible says, he is the son of God , the first of his creations; that he had a pre human existence and that his life was transferred from heaven to the womb of the virgin, Mary; that his perfect human life laid down in sacrifice makes possible salvation to eternal life for those who exercise faith; that Christ is actively ruling as king, with God given authority over all the earth since 1914.
4. I believe that God's Kingdom is the only hope for mankind; that it is a real government; that it will soon destroy the present wicked system of things, including all human governments, and that it will produce a new system in which righteousness will prevail.
5. I believe that 144, 000 spirit anointed Christians will share with Christ in his heavenly Kingdom ruling as kings with him. We do not believe that heaven is a reward for everyone who is good.
6. I believe that God's original purpose for the earth will be fulfilled; that the earth will be completely populated by worshippers of Jehovah (mankind's God and creator) and that these will be able to enjoy eternal life in human perfection; that even the dead will be raised to an opportunity to share in these blessings.
7. I believe that the dead are conscious of absolutely nothing; that they are experiencing neither pain nor pleasure in some spirit realm; that they do not exist except in God's memory, so hope for their future life lies in a resurrection from the dead.
8. I believe that we are living since 1914 in the last days of this wicked system of things; that some who saw the events of 1914 will also see the complete destruction of the present world; that lovers of righteousness will survive into a cleansed earth.
9. I earnestly endeavor to be no part of the world, as Jesus said of his true followers. We (Jehovah's Witnesses) show genuine Christian love for our neighbors but we do not share in politics or the wars of any nation. We provide material needs for our families but shun the world's avid pursuit of material things and personal fame and its excessive indulgence in pleasure.
10. I believe that it is important to apply the counsel of God's word in our everyday lives, at home, school, business, in our congregations.
Regardless of one's past way of life, he or she may become one of Jehovah's Witnesses if he or she abandons practices condemned by God's word and applies to godly counsel. But if anyone thereafter makes a practice of adultery, fornication, homosexuality, drug abuse, drunkenness, lying, or stealing, he will be disfellowshipped from the organization (this is not indefinite, having a truly repentant attitude and by ones changed course of action and adjustments made, yes they can be reinstated).
(This list briefly states some of my outstanding beliefs but by no means all the points on which our beliefs are different from those of other groups. All these beliefs are bible based)
Also if anyone who is a Witnesses and is suffering from weakened spirituality, there is plenty of encouragement and lots of love from or brothers and sisters and we should never fear going to the Elder Brothers in our congregations, for they are a flowing source of helpful advice. You are not alone, this world is intended to bring us down but if you let Jehovah guide you and protect you you will NOT fall pray to this wicked system of things. Remain faithful, do your very best to please Jehovah. He knows all of our trials and tribulations, he knows what each of us go through and he is always there for us. Pray often, get to all the meetings, go out in field service even if sometimes you do not feel like it. Be determined to win this race! Be determined to be on Jehovah's side! Be determined to get into the new system! Be determined to let nothing stand in your way!!
